The union for the major leagues of film production
About IATSE 514
IATSE 514 is a Quebec labour union affiliated with the FTQ that represents over 2,000 film production technicians. IATSE 514 is a local subsidiary of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States and Canada (IATSE), which is the largest film and entertainment industry union organization in North America.
IATSE 514 represents its members exclusively for large-scale American motion pictures and series filmed in Quebec by major American producers. Our collective agreements establish the working conditions of technicians recruited by major American studios filming in Quebec, as specified in Act S32.1(Sectors 2 and 4).
Sector 2 is made up of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMTP) members, which are the major studios and their affiliates. Sector 4 consists of independent producers with large budgets exceeding $35 million for film production or, for series production, with budgets exceeding $2.7 million per 60-minute episode, and $1.6 million per 30-minute episode.
In addition to representing its members and providing them with work contracts and a full range of benefits, IATSE 514 offers information and guidance, and ensures the health and safety of technicians in the workplace. In this respect, the union offers specialized training to its members, and gives them access to prevention programs as well as protective equipment. Thus, everything is set up so that members can devote themselves to their work with peace of mind.
